When I moved to San Francisco

This is a series of pictures I took in 2008, mostly just before I moved to the city. I was taking a bunch of photography classes at SF City College and met Tobias Womack, who introduced me to a lot of wonderful people and places. Most of these take place outside Amnesia bar on Valencia where I started learning how to dance, or Revolution Cafe on Bartlett and 22nd, where you could hear some of the best music in town almost every night. I always carried my Nikon FM2 usually loaded with ISO3200 film. When I started dancing, the camera began getting in the way, and the series ended. I like these images because of the people and places. Tobias, Julie, Wendy, Andre, Judy, Pete, another Pete, Joe, Mike, Dave, Cassie, here’s to you.
